This fascinating game in the RPG genre has already gained immense popularity in Japan, and now it finds an increasing number of fans in other countries. The action takes place in modern Tokyo, but you have an incredible journey in many dimensions, fighting demons who are armed with swords and small arms and possess magical abilities (in the game they are called "persons"). You start the game as an ordinary teenager, but in the course of fighting against persons you will also acquire supernatural power. You are led forward by a very long and intricate storyline, which provides for several different continuations. The attractiveness of the game is facilitated by an excellent management system. You can quickly move from one place to another, you are given detailed information about the progress in the game, the strength of opponents. Finally, you can reincarnate yourself in different monsters and experiment with options for action.

he game takes place in Japan in 1996, in the town of Mikage-cho.^[12] All the main characters attend St. Hermelin High, the town's high school, being in Class 4 taught by Saeko Takami.^[c] The other main feature of the town is the local branch of SEBEC (Saeki Electronics & Biological & Energy Corporation). All the main characters have the power to summon Personas, described in the manual as "the power of their hidden selves".^[7] The power to call Personas is granted by Philemon, a being born from the Collective Unconscious who acts as the party's spiritual guide and helper. He appears both in a human form and as a butterfly.^[7][12]

The player controls a silent protagonist, a second-year student who acts as their in-game representation. The rest of the cast are Maki Sonomura,^[d] whose near-constant ill health has made her inwardly bitter; Kei Nanjō,^[e] a self-confident heir to an important family business; Yukino Mayuzumi,^[f] a former gang member reformed through the efforts of Saeko; Hidehiko Uesugi,^[g] a man who puts on a facade of strength to cover his weaknesses; Yuka Ayase,^[h] a girl who consciously acts like a stereotypical "high school girl"; Masao Inaba,^[i] a spoiled and rebellious youth; and Eriko Kirishima,^[j] a woman with half-American parentage with an interest in the occult. The main antagonist is Takahisa Kandori,^[k] who runs the local SEBEC facility.^[7] During the SEBEC route, the player has the option of recruiting Reiji Kido,^[l] a student with a vendetta against Kandori.^[13]
